Peoria North ranks #1 in District for giving to Polio Plus!
The Peoria North Rotary Club was named the District 5495 "Polio Plus Champion" for 2024-25 at the district's Conference of Clubs held May 1-3 at the We-Ko-Pa Resort and Casino in Fountain Hills.
This marks the second time the club has captured the honor. The club also finished first in 2021-22. So far during the 2024-25 Rotary year, the club had contributed $11,597 to Rotary International's campaign to eradicate polio worldwide. With 20 members, the club had the highest per-capita giving to Polio Plus -- $579.85 per member.
The trophy features Rotary Founder Paul Harris holding a young child who, thanks to Rotary, has abandoned his braces after being cured of the disease.
Club President John Calhoun accepts the Polio Plus Champion Award from Past District Governor Jim Erickson, the district Polio Plus Chair.
